Challerhocker

Challerhocker is a washed rind cheese with a dense, smooth interior. This semi-hard cheese has a creamy feel on the palate and complex flavors with notes of butter, peanuts, roasted meat and herbs. Made in a dairy well-known for its terrific Appenzeller cheese, Käserei Tufertschwil began making their own proprietary cheeses like Challerhocker some years ago with great results. The name Challerhocker means “sitting in the cellar”. As it were, this robust Swiss cheese is aged in the cellar for a period of ten months. The full flavored cheese that results from the careful making and aging processes create a remarkably flavorful and savory Alpine cheese.
